Do you have any antitheft/security light on the dash when you try to start?

Ask Your Own VW Question
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
no
VW Mechanic: Gunvir Singh,
 replied 4 months ago

Since no malfuntion codes present in pcm, spark and fuel is present, Next step is to verify compression across all cylinders. If one cylinder is lower than the others, perform a cylinder leakdown test. If test failed that means either incorrect timing or valves are bent.

Thanks for choosing Just Answer . I'm Wolfgang here to help!!

I am confident we can resolve your problem together. Please
understand that I don't know your skill level. In most cases when you have a problem
with the way the vehicle performs, specialized tooling is required to acquire computer
data/information or engine testing results. We didn’t build these complicated vehicles; we
just diagnose and fix them. Also understand that I can't see, smell, hear, or touch the
vehicle either, so it may take a few replies to get to satisfactory results. Note there may be an issue where the complexity of the issue will require a Premium Service. This service will be an addition to the normal question cost. Usually it does not come down to this but keep in mind!! I am also going to direct you with the fastest, easiest and most common things to check first. Please be
patient and permit me to do what I do best.
I also try to give all of the information you may need, expecting a “positive rating” in
return. I will also continue assisting you after you have rated me, if necessary. If there
is any reason I cannot get a positive rating, please let me know why “in advance”, so I
can go another direction for you. I am sorry you’re having this problem; I’ll help you
through it.
Below is my first answer or request for more information. If you do not understand it, or you need more information from me, or need me to go in more detail.

i do need the vin # to get the factory info to assist!!

thanks

VW Mechanic: Wolfgang, VW Master Technician replied 4 months ago

i do understand but for me i have the factory information and its vin driven so if you have an electrical issue which i think you do i need to have the right info to assist you in the right direction!!

Ask Your Own VW Question
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
I can get it in about an hour
VW Mechanic: Wolfgang, VW Master Technician replied 4 months ago

that will be fine . i'm in and out so when you post i will get my info in a row and then see where you are at.

note just to ask key on engine off does the check engine light come on in the dash?

Ask Your Own VW Question

Viecar cy300. I have a vag cable and software on order. It should be here in 2 days
VW Mechanic: Wolfgang, VW Master Technician replied 4 months ago

if you have vag com coming that is the choice !! why?? code readers like that one may not communicate correctly causing a sense of no codes stored which may be the module not communicating hence a big issue!! understand?

when you get the vin just post it here and then i will respond asap!!!!

VW Mechanic: Wolfgang, VW Master Technician replied 4 months ago
Hold gas pedal to floor and crank the vehicle over and keep cranking does it hit ?
Ask Your Own VW Question
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
It tries to start like that
VW Mechanic: Wolfgang, VW Master Technician replied 4 months ago

what happens if you spray starting fluid and then start . note 2 people is better to force some more fluid if it runs .

if that is the case maybe you might not have enough pressure .

Ask Your Own VW Question
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
I tried that. I held open the butterfly on the throttle body and sprayed starting fluid into it. It still just sputters like it is trying to start
VW Mechanic: Wolfgang, VW Master Technician replied 4 months ago

pull the plugs are they wet?

Ask Your Own VW Question
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
They are wet. When cranking I have 50 psi of fuel pressure.
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
Swapped out to a new set of plugs. That made no difference.
VW Mechanic: Wolfgang, VW Master Technician replied 4 months ago
Ok do this air out cylinders with compressed air then 1 oz of motor oil into each cylinder. Allow to soak and air out for couple of hrs. Take wet spark plugs and with a torch burn off the fuel. Then reinstall plugs then disconnect Maf sensor plug then try to start.
Ask Your Own VW Question
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
It still just sputters for a second like it’s going to start
VW Mechanic: Wolfgang, VW Master Technician replied 4 months ago

did you check your timing on your belt to see if it jumped?

Ask Your Own VW Question
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
I did. I even pulled the valve cover and verified the cams are in time also.
VW Mechanic: Wolfgang, VW Master Technician replied 4 months ago

so the adjuster plastic shoes are not wiped out and broken?

Ask Your Own VW Question
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
No they were replaced 30000 miles ago. They looked great
VW Mechanic: Wolfgang, VW Master Technician replied 4 months ago

was the battery replaced or did it go dead?

Ask Your Own VW Question
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
I have not replaced the battery. It’s on a battery tender since it wouldn’t start to keep it charged. I also have a jump box and a battery charger that I can set to start if needed
VW Mechanic: Wolfgang, VW Master Technician replied 4 months ago

did you verify this.

pull all 4 coils and leave plugged in and hook up all 4 spark plugs like they are installed. then ground the plugs and have another person crank the vehicle . do you have a spark on all 4 plugs? video showing would be great!!

thanks

Ask Your Own VW Question
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
I do have spark at all the coil packs. The spark is white at each one. It will not let me load a video up
VW Mechanic: Wolfgang, VW Master Technician replied 4 months ago
What happened before this issue came about?
Ask Your Own VW Question
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
I rebuilt the head 2 months before. I drove it the whole time after that
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
I did get the cat cable today with vcds-lite software. It says no codes for the Engine. Just an abs code
VW Mechanic: Wolfgang, VW Master Technician replied 4 months ago
What the abs code ?
Ask Your Own VW Question
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
I cleared the code and it didn’t come back. Sorry
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
I had the battery tested today. It test good. 631 cold cranking amps. The one thing I did notice as it cranks over it only cranks at 100 rpm. I thought I read in the service manual it should be 300 rpm?
VW Mechanic: Wolfgang, VW Master Technician replied 4 months ago

very true needs at least 200-250 rpm. you may have an internal issue where the engine binds while cranking hence the no start because its hard to turn. you can verify if plugs are out and turn with breaker bar it should be very free!!

Ask Your Own VW Question
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
Ok. It rolls pretty easy by a hand with ratchet on it. I was wrong its cranking at just a little past 200 rpm. was thinking the first line on the tach was 100. close to 210 rpm.
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
the tach will go to zero while cranking sometimes.
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
Did auto scan with vag. Fault 18010 power supply terminal 30 voltage low. Fault 00526 brake light switch.
VW Mechanic: Wolfgang, VW Master Technician replied 4 months ago

really !!! i wonder if the crank sensor is the issue . you should not lose tach wile cranking!! take the ecu connectors off and plug back in then retry .

do this with vag .

01 engine electronics , 04 basic settings then enter 098 and then turn it on to adapt the throttle!!..

then retry

Ask Your Own VW Question
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
The crank sensor is new. I bought one this morning.
VW Mechanic: Wolfgang, VW Master Technician replied 4 months ago

then do the other thing i asked!!

Ask Your Own VW Question
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
I will have to upgrade to the full version. It won’t let me into the basic settings
VW Mechanic: Wolfgang, VW Master Technician replied 4 months ago

Ask Your Own VW Question
