didnt get it but $7E8 and $7E9 are sub menus for the Engine and Transmission. You need to select one and press enter. It will then give you the code for that sub menu

Customer: replied 8 months ago.
It gave me a menu with several things to pick:
Read codes
Erase code
Live data
View freeze frame
I/Mike readiness
Vehicle info

I turned off engine and engine light went off.
Expert:  david craig replied 8 months ago.

thats cool, but if they are hard faults the light will come back on. so keep an eye on it.

When the engine light came on the engine had very little power, I had the oil changed over the weeked and was wondering if they mite of accidentally unhook something or a vacuum hose. I was doing about 80 miles an hour on the freeway and that's when it seemed to pop on,like a chug chug before I want to go
Expert:  david craig replied 8 months ago.

i will look into it and get back to you tomorrow. in the meantime please try to get the obd version of those codes.

Expert:  david craig replied 8 months ago.

Hello and welcome to JustAnswer!

What you've mentioned are indeed module menus rather than fault codes. You need to start by entering into each of them individually and then select to read the fault codes in each module. Powertrain fault codes will start with a P and have four numbers.
