the trunk wont open on my 2007 convertible VW bug
JA: Have you tried silicone spray or WD-40?
Customer: yes
JA: Are you fixing your Convertible yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: yes. pulling on the red cord, which is now broken. moving the emergency glow in the dark lever down. still nothing
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?

You are going to need to remove the two screws, located inside the "hand pull" pockets on either side of the trim panel. Then you can yank hard on those handles, and the trim panel clips will release and come off the inside of the trunk.

Then you will need to release the latch manually by using a flashlight to see the release lever on it, or where the emergency cable from the glow lever goes.

phillips or t25 Torx screws, you will have to check with a flashlight, as they are different depending on the model and year.
