starter will not stop after i release the ignition switch om 1963 vw bus, it keep turning the engine...
JA: Can you turn the steering wheel at all? And what about the key? Is it worn or damaged?
Customer: yest i can turn wheel, this a new ignition switch with new set of keys
JA: What is the model of your '63 VW?
Customer: 1963 transporter or Hippie bus..
JA: Are you fixing your vehicle yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: yes fixing myself....will disconnect ignition lead to see it solenoid is stuck or check if voltage is backfeeding through lead to solenoid...
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?

Hello, Welcome to Just Answer.

The starter might have a sticky solenoid plunger or the battery voltage low as both can cause this type of behavior.

The only way to tel is to test the battery voltage and if that checks then one will have to take the starter of to inspect the solenoid plunger. The voltage for 6volt should not drop below 4.5 volts when cranking the engine.
