Customer Question

I have a Passat Wagon 2007 Model year. 2.0 Turbo. Which of the relays in my engine compartment fuse box runs the fans (for cooling and for AC)? The fans are not coming on - neither when the engine gets warm nor when we turn on the A/C
JA: How many miles are on the car? Has the car been starting normally?
Customer: 120K and the car starts just fine
JA: Are you fixing your Passat yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: we are starting with the relay. We'd like to swap it out... We think it's the one marked R4 in the owner's manual diagram but are having tons of trouble verifying this
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: nope. Just need some advice on the part we need to replace the relay. ... and which one is the right onw. one

i gotta get out of this shop. ill be back on in about an hour. ttyl.

Expert:  david craig replied 10 months ago.

with neither fan running, you need to replace the module. checking the relays arent going to do any good. i have seen this problem many times.

do you still need assistance?

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
HI. the new fan assembly, complete with fan control module is installed. This has not fixed the problem, as the fans still do not engage. I tested the motor with lead wires and it works. Somehow the signal is not getting to the FCM. I'm back to thinking that it's a "fuse" or relay. Can that be the issue? Or what else can be inhibiting the signal and causing the fans not to come on?

hello, is anyone there?
Customer: replied 10 months ago.
Please send me a fuse location map for a 2007 Passat wagon 2.0T Built in 2006. It has an engine fuse box located on the driver side (high).... fuses attached to the end of the wires leading into the box and then fuses and relays in the box. VIN number is ***** I need to know what position controls what function/part. I'm still looking for the reason the fan won't turn on.
