Hello, I'm Brandon - VW tech.

The key reader is not the problem and it won't fix the stall issue.

The coil and the crank sensor is bad.

From my professional years I'd not recommend buying the 2000 VW Beetle.

There are engine and transmission. Many of customer had to change out the transmission and the engine will stall due to bad coils.

You going to spend more money later on to fix it up. This is from my experience.
