first time ever. VW 2012 TDI sportswagen ...the gas cover does not open.
JA: Has the vehicle turned into a gas hog? And how does it start -- same as usual?
Customer: it will start and drive. all is good.. but I have less than 25 miles
JA: What is the model of your '12 VW?
Customer: TDI 2012 sportwagen
JA: Are you fixing your vehicle yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: just tried to push the top. tried to close all doors. turned it of and on. nothing works
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: nothing else

this sounds like the actuator for the flap is stuck

please note that the fuel door lock is actauted at the same time as the passenger doors

so if the passenger doors are locked then the fuel door is also

so if your fuel door is stuck then 1st try cycling the passenger door locks several times to see if that frees it off

and there should also be an emergency release in the trunk behind the trim panel on that side
