Customer Question

AC intermittently makes a load noise. I am thinking it is a fan issue
JA: Have you checked the Freon level? Have you checked the hoses?
Customer: Yes and Yes. My wife took it to our mechanic who did something, but we still have that intermittent grinding noise
JA: What is the model/year of your VW?
Customer: 2002 beetle
JA: Are you hoping to fix this yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: Haven't done anything myself. Just trying to understand the problem
JA: Anything else you think the mechanic should know?
Customer: We don't know if it still blows cold air - as my wife turns it off as soon as the noise starts
JA: OK. Got it. I'm sending you to a secure page on JustAnswer so you can place the $5 fully-refundable deposit now. While you're filling out that form, I'll tell the VW Mechanic about your situation and then connect you two.

Hello and welcome. My name is ***** ***** you for visiting the site.

Does it seem to sound like the blower fan, inside the vehicle?

Or, from under the hood?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
She doesn't know, thinks it is under the hood, but when she adjust the directional vents, the sound goes away for a bit.

I see, thanks. That may just be because the compressor kicks off when the airflow is changed. Do you know if it does it with the AC off or with heat on. Like possible blower motor?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Not sure. I should probably drive the car and hear it myself. I have good information to start exploring. I really hope it's not the compressor $$$$.

Yes, that is a good idea, then we will have a better idea as to the problem of concern, thanks
