I accidentally disconnected the mass air flow sensor before disconnecting tge battery on my 2005 vw jetta, 2.5. I now can not start my engine.

I have tried to start t he car after leaving disconnected for a while but it will still not start.

Hello ,If you do not have a scanner.......Just take both battery cables off & just touch the Positive & Negative cables together for about 5 seconds.......then replace them. This will put the computer system in a Re-learn Mode.......But you would have to drive it about 100 miles, before you could get a emissions check done, as it would have to go through the drive cycle.......Thanks Joey
