Volkswagen Beetle: We recently purchased a one owner 1999 Beetle.

Customer Question

We recently purchased a one owner 1999 Beetle. It only has 65,000 miles. The transmission is somewhat jerky when driving at slow speed around town but shifts fine when accelerating on a highway. Is this normal for a 99?

Hello, Welcome to Just Answer. The fault might be that the oil filter inside the transmission needs to be changed. They get clogged as a result from all the iron fillings and the oil that is forming a sticky composite. This leads to lower oil pressure inside the transmission and causing the hard shifting. A service should rectify this. Can be done a any good repair station. This should answer your question but if you need more information do not hesitate to ask.Greetings,Martin.
