No gear engagement: just got 1998 VW Beetle out of the shop

Customer Question

No gear engagement:
just got 1998 VW Beetle out of the shop two days ago for new knuckle/spindle, wheel bearing, strut & alignment. (Kid+pothole=another repair)
Now gears will not engage. Can pull up E-brake, run shifter through all gear positions without using clutch, it doesn't even try to grind or bog.
Brakes are fine-besides maybe bleeding clutch, any other ideas?

Hello...welcome and thank you for using justanswer.
If you can shift all the gears without stepping on the clutch with engine running and there is not a grind noise ,that means your new clutch disc is burned out or fell apart or the transmission primary shaft broke off.
Did this happen without any sign ?
Let me know.
Thank you.
