Hello there! I'm Eurocar ! I will try to assist you as much as I can. Quality research = Quality answer!!
you have a bad wheel bearing !!
a press is needed to remove and install a wheel bearing!!
bearings cost about $90
and labor is about $200 for each side
common thing with age !! i replace a bearing at least every week
how do I know what side
well the correct way is to lift the front wheels and have them held by jack stands
and what shake the wheels or what
you will need a second person in the vehicle with the engine running and driving it with the asr button pressed and you on the ground with a stethoscope with wheels spinning and isolate what bearing is louder than the otherside
I am trying to write all the stuff down for my husband
understand
what if I don't have a stethoscope and you say 2nd person driving so am I driving or on the jacks man am lost good thing am not the mechanic
on the jacks so the car will not move just the front wheels
stethoscope is cheap $10.00 from a auto parts store
the stethoscope is a failsafe way to isolate the noise
could it be anything else I got new tires today and there seems to be like a rumble in the steering wheel not a shake but a strange rumble vibration
no. 99.99999999% it is a bearing becuase in your statement if you trun one way the noise lessens and it is a tell tale sign that it is a wheel bearing
turn
could it be in the rear
no front because the rear wheels go straight and you said the noise changes while turning and only the front turns left right
Oh you are so smart thanks for all help a money saver for all women thanks again.
sure and please do not forget the positive feedback for the consultation given
have a safe day!!
