a press is needed to remove and install a wheel bearing!!
bearings cost about $90
and labor is about $200 for each side

well the correct way is to lift the front wheels and have them held by jack stands

no. 99.99999999% it is a bearing becuase in your statement if you trun one way the noise lessens and it is a tell tale sign that it is a wheel bearing
