VerifiedYour waterpump is almost certainly faulty. The waterpump is plast and will crack loose from the shaft and slip causing this issue. Take it out and let it get to temp then beat on it taking it to max rpm when shifting. If I immediately overheats that's your problem. And most likely it is as the thermostats don't normally stick shut on these. Your mechanic can remove the the®mostat and reach his fingers into the block and feel the waterpump impellar to see if it moves around.
