I have a problem with my 2003 W8 Passat. It will not start

Resolved Question:

I have a problem with my 2003 W8 Passat. It will not start and the code says camshaft positioning sensor bank 2. We cannot find where the sensor is located to change it out. And it is not getting fuel but starts with starting fluid and then dies. Any suggestions?

Ok heres your fault

"A" Camshaft Position - Timing Over-Advanced or System Performance, Bank 2

We have seen this issue a lot with these w8 passats the sensor is located under the drivers side valve cover . The sensor comes as one unit with the camshaft adjusters the adjusters are the ones that go bad . This is a VERY BIG job the engine will have to be removed to do this job. The issues you have with the vehicle not starting and you have no fuel is more then likely a faulty fuel pump wich is also very common for this vehicle.

I reccomend this job be done by a very qualified volkswagen technician .
