Sorry to hear about your problem on your S40. Unless you checked the ABS system for codes you will not retrieve any codes for the Dynamic Stability Assistance system. Using a general OBD2 code reader will not pull ABS codes. If you get a better scanner that reads Engine, ABS and Airbag DTC's that will do the trick but they start at around $300-$400 and go up from there. The system is only seeing a fault on acceleration for that drive cycle, that is why when you cycle the key off and re-start it the light is not on until you accelerate hard again. You would have to retrieve the code that it is setting first when the light is on and go from there as it could potentially be numerous problems.
