I may ask several questions to get more details about your problem. While you are waiting for me to respond I am looking up the workshop manuals and wiring diagrams needed to answer your concerns.

Where is the leak coming from? Top near the p/s hose or down below near the steering rack?
Here is a picture of the steering gear.
This is the steering lines and power steering reserve tank he will need to check.
FYI- Volvo recommends using CHF202 power steering fluid.
One more thing - ask him to check the power steering fluid cooler that is located in underneath the car. Here is a picture.
