Customer Question
Changed brake pads in...

Changed brake pads in front, now brakes are spongy. if engine is stopped brakes are hard, start the engine and it moves to the floor.

Mechanic's Assistant: Have you tried "bleeding the brakes" to get any air out of the line?

Many times. Plus I never took any lines off.

Mechanic's Assistant: What is the model/year of your Volvo?

04 S60 2.5T

Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your S60 yourself? What have you tried so far?

New pads in front, and new disks. Been bleeding the heck out of it, but still moves right to the floor when engine is running.

Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?

It appears to be tight when engine is not running. Once engine is running, then it travels to floor.

Hi my name is***** you start the car the pressure out of master cylinder is 10 time with engine off. You are bypassing fluid pressure in the master cylinder if it is going to the floor.

Volvo Mechanic: Jaybird61, ASE Certified Master Technician replied 11 months ago
Replace master cylinder and make sure to bench bleed before installing.

Are you confident it would be master cylinder? Everything worked fine before I changed pads. Any chance of ABS issue?
Volvo Mechanic: Jaybird61, ASE Certified Master Technician replied 11 months ago
What happens is when you pushed pedal all the way to floor the gunk built up in master cylinder bore got in the pistons and clogged or damaged them.
