My Wife's Volvo is in neutral and she cannot get it out of

Customer Question

Hey Pearl, My Wife's Volvo is in neutral and she cannot get it out of neutral.
JA: What is the model/year of your Volvo?
Customer: I think 2011, model V50
JA: Are you fixing your V50 yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: Nothing. My wife just call me from out of town and told me she stopped at a place, rid to put the car in park but it would only go to neutral and will not move. she does say that when she puts her foot on the brake, she hears a humming sound
JA: Do you have brake lights? Have any trouble codes popped up?
Customer: Don't know, would that cause it not to move?
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: That is all I have. Let me call her back and ask that question
