Have a Volvo xc70 2001 awd check engine light is on and was told it was the catalytic converter it stalled on me today
JA: Does the light stay on, or does it blink?
Customer: It goes intermittently Some times it's on and goes off while driving
JA: Are you fixing your XC70 yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: Just bought it from a guy
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?

Hello, I'm Brandon.

A plugged up converter can make the vehicle stalled.

Technically you can run the vehicle without the converter. However it is illegal to do that due to emission.

Also your vehicle will run rich and fuel consumption will go up.

The proper way is to replace it with a new converter unit.
