Customer Question

it has a rough idle and random misfire codes ( as well as some misfire codes on cylinders 2-8) no other codes thrown. I replaced the plugs, and tested the coils and they are fine. I also noticed that the car goes into an open loop fault after running a few minutes. think it may be O2 sensors ?
JA: Have you seen the misfire code before? Has the car been stalling?
Customer: it would stall sometimes before I changed the plugs.. when driving and coming to a stop RPM would sputter and it'd stall unless I kept foot on pedal bit. with new plugs still rough idle and misfires but no stall
JA: What is the model/year of your Volvo?
Customer: 2008 xc 90 V8
JA: Are you fixing your XC 90 yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: I am. I replaced plugs and tested coils.
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: don't think so

If you're certain that the ignition system is good, then we need to address the CRANK sensor and fuel injectors for proper operation. You need to tests the injectors with a tester and also ohm them cold and hot.

You also need to make sure they are all getting power with your noid light.

thanks, Ron
