I have a 2006 Volvo S60 2.5 Turbo, with FWD and no sunroof.

Customer Question

Hello Edward,
I have a 2006 Volvo S60 2.5 Turbo, with FWD and no sunroof. For several months now, my car has seemed to have many issues with changing gears. The most noticeable and worrisome issue is going from Reverse into Drive. It will often kick harshly upon being put into Drive, and it will make a loud thunk and feel like it's been bucked from behind.

I have worked with 4~5 mechanics. Two of them have done a majority of the work on my car, a summary of which is as follows: oil changes, coolant refills, pressure testing for oil / coolant leaks, filter replacements, engine coil replacements (3 out of 5 have been replaced so far), and new spark plugs. The mechanic I visited most recently diagnosed my car with a failed Mass Air Flow Sensor. He is repairing that as we speak. I am just concerned that the same symptoms I've been experiencing (kicking, hesitating, stalling, multiple Check Engine lights) will resurface, or that something with the engine or Volvo internal computer (ETM / ETB) is causing more and more things to progressively fail in my car. Please advise! Thanks,David

Regarding my initial message, and going along with what I said about kicking / hesitating, I feel like there is some transmission issue at hand, but no one has been able to confirm that yet.

Can you give details about your problem ? And do you have check engine light fault codes ?
