Volvo v70xc: I have a v70 xc, when I jack up drivers side

This answer was rated:

I have a v70 xc, when I jack up driver's side there seems to be some play moving the wheel side to side. Tie rod seems to have no play. The slight slop seems to be comming from the steering rack. How much play is acceptable?
Thanks, Jim.

Enes : Hello and welcome to my name isXXXXX a Certified Volvo Car Expert Mechanic.I'm going to try to help you find the help you need .
Enes : there should be no play
Enes : so you have maybe bad ball joint
Enes : also check inner and outer tie rod ends those 3 parts fail very common for play in wheel
Enes : Wheel hub can have play also but is allways associated with noise

Ball joint and tie rod have no play. As I said slight slop side to side seems to be comming from within rack.

Enes : If you have play from rack then is outer tie rod or inner
Enes : Can you record video ?
Enes : So I can see maybe help you better

There is an inner tie rod?

Enes : The outer tie rod screws in the inner tie rod
Enes : that is your inner tie rod

Where do I access the inner tie rod from?

Enes : Remove outer tie rod
Enes : than you remove the boot over rack slide out and then you just unscrew the inner tie rod
Enes : Is very simple
Enes : but outer tie rod has to be removed first

Will do, Thanks
