Volvo s40 2.4i: a leak under my passenger side dashboard

what could be causing a leak under my passenger side dashboard in my 2004.5 volvo s40 2.4i?

The most common cause of a water leak is clogged sunroof drains. There run along the windshield on either side under the trim panels. The rubber elbow where the hose connects often gets clogged. We remove them, clean them out and cut the "lips" off to allow for better flow. That's the first thing I would check. Let me know if you have any other questions.
