Hello canon sx730hs....was...

Hello canon sx730hs....was dropped in a shallow puddle for less than 2 seconds on screen side....the fall was only 3 ft. or less....initially I could open it & take photos.happened 48 hrs ago. I dryed it,&am storing it with dessicant (?) packs.currently does not open at all??? any hope? thanks

Hi,

Depending on how wet the camera was, it may not have been sitting long enough for all of the internal parts to be completely dry. Unfortunately turning it on too soon, may have caused some damage. You did a good thing drying it with dessicant packs but even with a small amount of moisture that can take a few days. You also need to remove the battery and the memory card and leave the access door open When you are sure that the camera is dry, clean the contacts, battery compartment, lens & camera body, to remove any remaining moisture and help arrest corrosion. There is about a 20% chance that the camera will operate correctly without major service since it has been powered up a few times.

Please keep in mind that my diagnosis & solutions provided are directly dependent on the accuracy of your description of the problem. As with any "do it yourself" fixes, success is a "team effort", since I can't see or touch the camera, and relies on the customer's manual dexterity and ability to follow the instructions well.
