I looked up the manual online and it says that there is definitely a microphone with this model so I should be able to hear it.

Look for an external microphone jack - if there is one on the camera, that is an option to try using in case the camera's built-in microphone is truly damaged.

The OM-D by Olympus has no level control for sound recorded by its microphone. It may be damaged, unfortunately. An external microphone - if you can locate the mike jack, if this model has one - is to be tried. Otherwise, you may have to have the camera sent to Olympus USA to be repaired.

(Would you like to try a factory reset first, to see whether that cures the problem? it will not erase anything you have recorded, just settings values, that will be returned to factory-release condition.)

I've already recorded the footage so locating the jack now is too late. I need to know if there is an option in the menu to check the microphone or sound levels.

No, there isn't, I'm sorry to say. The OM-D by Olympus has no level control for sound recorded by its microphone.

There has to be a something for sound or the microphone in the menu. An option to enable sound.

Sound is enabled by default, I think, given that there is no control/option/setting for sound level.

As for seeing whether the video clip(s) has/have sound really - try copying them to a computer. Play them back there, where volume control is available, see whether, just perhaps, there is sound but it is very faint but still amplifiable.
