I accidentally hit this...

I accidentally hit this website since i was looking for answer as to why my new memory card will not format. not sure if this is a service or am i paying for this somehow

Technician's Assistant: Who makes your camera?

It is a canon eos mark 2 and both camera bodies give me the same message

Technician's Assistant: What have you tried so far with your EOS?

I am about to try to remove the battery and plug in the card after a reset

Technician's Assistant: Anything else you want the Camera Expert to know before I connect you?

I tried the reset and it did not work. i have two extreme pro sandisk 64G memory cards that I bought and they both give me problems on both eos camera bodies.

Can you remove the battery please then hold the shutter button down for 60 seconds then release.

Wait 5 minutes, put the battery back in and turn it on.

Tell me please if it now reads the card please

i have done it to both cameras and am waiting 5 minutes with 4 min to go.
i have two 64G sandisk pro memory cards

it made no difference on both cameras.

its a canon eos 5d mark 2 in both cases

Please do the following

Open the Canon 5D Mark II's menu system by clicking the "Menu" button on the back of the camera.

Scroll to the seventh menu at the top, indicated by a wrench icon with three small dots next to it.

Choose the "Clear settings" command.

Choose "Clear all camera settings."

Indicate that you agree to clear all the camera's settings.

Once done, tell me if it then reads the cards

i also have a mark 4 and just tried formatting the card and it also gave me a busy signal.
i just tried doing what you asked and it made no impact.
it just gives me a busy indication. the brownish bar scrolls across and thats it.

To clarify, the camera will not reset?

the reset function seems to work but when i then try to format the card it still gives me the busy reading.

ok, points to a faulty card as the likely issue.

Can you try a different card please and try to format it.

i tried taking pictures on the memory card . i could read the pictures. then i pressed format and it gave me the busy sign but the scroll bar as usual went from left to right and when i looked at the memory card after this the images had been wiped out. so maybe it is working but why am i getting an erroneous busy message? not sure why?

Restart the camera and try it again please

what do you mean by restart?
it seems that something is happening since the scroll bar that you get while waiting for the format to finish is moving from left to right but while doing this it says busy please wait. so maybe it is working but is sending me this information as it scrolls? a bit confusing. the fact that i can erase the images i put in and can read images i assume means it is working?

Power it off, then power it on

i did this.maybe it was working all along but it just says busy while the bar moves from left to right formatting the card. once it reaches the end the busy message goes out. i suppose if i am able to erase the images and see that there are no images left and then take some pictures and see that i can preview them means the formatting worked? not sure?

yes it does, if it now takes pictures and you see them the card is now working again for you

it seems that the installed software, when it says it is busy, does not mean that it is not working. the fact that the scroll bar is working, moving left to right, and is not stuck is all i have to go on? if this is working i just ignore the transient busy sign?

yes if the photos are being made and saved you can then ignore it
