I just bought a Nikon Monarch 7i VR Range finder and it appears eyecup/diopter will not turn. Am I missing something or did I get a defective unit

I have tried to turn the eyecup to adjust the magnification and it wont turn at all. I am using enough force I am worried I will break it

Unfortunately, it seems that you have a defective unit. You can return it back to the store or Nikon will replace it for you if the store won't.
