Hi, thank you for contacting JustAnswer.com. My name is***** will do my best to provide the right answer to your question.

The eyecup or eye guard can be removed by turning it counter-clockwise.

(Unless it is a long rubber eyecup like this one:

http://www.kowaproducts.com/_images/_products/l/TE-20H.jpg

which can be removed by simply pulling it off.)

If this answers your question, please rate my answer. A five-star rating would be appreciated!

Thanks.

ahhh, it is not the long rubber eyecup one. Now you say counterclockwise but depending on how you are holding the lens determines which way is counterclockwise or clockwise. If you mean viewing the lens from say the front of the eyecup (where you look into the eyecup) looking down towards the end that attaches to the scope is counterclockwise, I tried it that way with quite a bit of force with it not budging at all. any suggestions?Fletch

Remove the lens from the rest of whatever equipment it goes onto.

Look down onto the lens' eyepiece, where you put your eye, with the lens eyepiece where you put your eye, facing up at you.

Counter-clockwise from that point of view, looking down into the eyepiece's eye-used side. Is that clear?

Let me know how it works, please, Fletch.

Russell,In my last response “If you mean viewing the lens from say the front of the eyecup (where you look into the eyecup) looking down towards the end that attaches to the scope is counterclockwise, I tried it that way with quite a bit of force with it not budging at all. any suggestions?” is the same as your description: “Look down onto the lens' eyepiece, where you put your eye, with the lens eyepiece where you put your eye, facing up at you. Counter-clockwise from that point of view, looking down into the eyepiece's eye-used side. “ So my question still stands, won’t budge, any suggestions?

Looking down toward the end that attaches to the scope - no. That doesn't match my 'look down onto the lens' eyepiece where you put your eye.'

For my description, imagine the eyepiece attached to the end of a pipe sticking out of a wall.

You are next to the wall. You look at the eyepiece. The end that is not attached to the pipe, needs to be turned counter-clockwise.

Russell, I am following you and to be certain, lets put it this way. The scope is setup on the tripod with the lens attached that has the eyecup still attached and I am looking thru the eyecup like I am using the scope like it was intended to be used. so my eye is up against the cupcup looking through the scope. Standing there looking through the scope I raised my right hand, grasped the eyecup and turn it counterclockwise - right? If this is right, then what I said is the problem. stuck
Camera and Video Technician: Russell H., Service Tech replied 7 months ago

Yes: reach up, with your eye to the eyepiece, turn it (imagining the telecope looking at the horizon, horizontally) so the upper side of the eyepiece goes left - counter-clockwise from your viewpoint.

Yup, have tried that with quite abit of force and afraid to turn it harder less I break something ergo reaching out to you.Fletch

I see. The lens is probably 'stuck' then. The instructions do say to turn the eye-cover counter-clockwise to remove it - if that doesn't work, then it may be defective/'stuck', perhaps.

Do you need further help? a camera shop could be helpful, and if you need listings for one near you, I will provide them.
