Customer Question

My Nikon DSLR--D90-- has stopped working. I've removed and reinstalled fully charged batteries, looked in user manuals, etc. When I attempt to take a photograph on Automatic, the camera will not focus, nor indicate exposure.
I'm concered that, if it is "broken," whether it's worth getting repaired. Thanks

Hi,

First, in order to set a good reference point, please reset the camera to the default settings pressing the Exposure Compensation button & AF Mode buttons together

Next, carefully clean the lens. Depending on the environment that you are shooting in, Fingerprints or a haze can build up on the lens and cause incorrect readings. In Auto mode the camera will not allow the shutter to release if it cannot find the correct focus point. (At times even experienced photographers miss this.) And remember, if there is not enough available light on enough contrast in the subject that you are shooting it will still hunt back and forth and force the use of the flash.

If you have a second lens, Please try it and see if you get the same response from the camera.
