Customer Question
I am adding cameras...

I am adding cameras to a network using a comtrend vr-3031u. I believe that I will need a extender. What would be the recommended extender.

Technician's Assistant: Who makes your camera?

Samsung

Technician's Assistant: What have you tried so far with your camera?

If the camera is close to the comtrend it is fine. When I move more than 50 feet, no.

Technician's Assistant: Anything else you want the Camera Expert to know before I connect you?

No thanks

Thank you for your question. My name is ***** ***** I look forward to assisting you.

Is the issue that some of the cameras are too far away from the router to get a signal?

Please let me know

Thank you

Thank you

You will need a wireless repeater and you can use this one here

https://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-Version-Wi-Fi-Extender-WN3000RP/dp/B004YAYM06

This will work with your router, and is easy to set up and will increase the range of your wireless network so your cameras can connect to this.

If you would like any additional information or assistance, please do not hesitate to let me know.

And if you can take a second to rate my service by clicking one of the stars at the top of the screen then submit, that would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

When I installed the Comtrend 2 years ago I also attempted to install the very item that you are recommending. The network collapsed and I spent 2 hours recovering.
Camera and Video Technician: Richard, Technician replied 7 months ago

ok.. but a wireless router cannot make a network collapse... it does not interfere with the main router at all it is just repeating the signal from it.

I am not sure what happened 2 years ago, but it would have been seperate to this issue. It is the best repeater to get, but if you wish I can offer a different one below.
