I have a PowerShot...

I have a PowerShot SD79015 (Digital 1XUS9015) I had a Canon Digital Camera Solution Disk so I could download pictures into my Vista Computer. I now have a Windows 10 and I don't seem to be able to import my pictures. I can't find the Solution Disk. How can I download from camera to computer? Ruby

Technician's Assistant: What Canon model do you have?

It is PowerShotSD790 IS Digital ELPH. I do have the Camera User Guide to guide me through the connection procedure, but nothing comes up on the computer screen.

Technician's Assistant: Anything else you want the Camera Expert to know before I connect you?

If I need the Canon Digital Camera Solution Disk to put into my Toshiba with Windows 10, how may I get one?

The only software Canon offers for that camera model and Windows 10, is the following:

specifically the Camera Window program.

Now, if that does not provide what you need, you can also remove the memory card from the camera, plug it into a right-sized and correct type of memory card slot on your computer. Let me know if that seems a better option.

I tried the memory card into the computer. It fit but nothing happened. I then tried the download process, but it was too much for me to understand. Am I looking for CameraWindow DC 8.10.4a ? If so, what do I do with it. Perhaps you could walk me through it by phone. (###) ###-#### Ruby

Yes, download CameraWindow CD 8, 10, 4a to your computer... when downloaded, install it from the downloaded file.

As for the memory card... try this:

1. insert memory card into memory card slot that is right for it.

2. go to

Start

and go to

ThisPC (or on older Windows PCs, go to Computer.)

3. There, look for the drive # (such as F:, or I:, or perhaps E: or other drive letter) displayed there, which corresponds to the memory card. Double-click on that drive letter, to open the memory card.

4. from the memory card as so displayed and opened, locate the picture file or files, select it or them, and copy to your Pictures on your hard drive.

This may be less-than-automatic, but is a good fallback for a case like this, esp. if Camera Window cannot work that well with your Windows 10, etc.

I have successfully downloaded the app. However, when I connect the camera to the computer, nothing happens as it used to do. I just don't know what to do next. I have 7 days to ask questions. So I will wait until tomorrow to continue. Thanks.
