Hi, thank you for contacting JustAnswer.com. My name is***** will do my best to provide the right answer to your question.

The question about just forcing it open (breaking it open) would be, whether the tape was Stopped, when the camcorder was last used. If it was not, if the tape is still 'loaded', you would probably still have a mess of tape inside the works even if the door were opened up.

Now, granted that is not a problem... if it were, getting a power cord first just to get the tape Ejected would be ideal! and if you choose, I can help you find a source for it quite easily.

Granted that the tape being 'unloaded' from the tape heads and spindles already, the way to break it open, would be to force the tape carrier out the way it normally comes out, breaking latches on the way - but NOT breaking the cassette/framework of the tape inside it. I do not advise trying this - the tap cassette may be much more fragile than the tape carrier it is enclosed within.

But whichever way you choose to do this task, I will help you with it.

If you can find me a power cord, I agree that would be better. Hope you have better luck than I had trying to find a transfer cable for my Luminix DMC--ZS25 camera -- they have sent me 3 or 4 and none work Thanks Janet
Camera and Video Technician: Russell H., Service Tech replied 10 months ago

It might be that the computer cannot activate the interface with such a cable; it might be that the old camera's interface circuitry has given out; but to offer maximum options, here's a transfer cable that ought to work, just by the way:

As for the power cord or adapter:

Here are two sources for the AC Adapter for the camcorder model you have, both Amazon.com, both about the same $16-or-so price, both In Stock:

https://www.amazon.com/Adapter-ES1000S-ES1000-Camcorder-Charger/dp/B01M7SHO6N

or

https://www.amazon.com/UpBright-Adapter-ES1000S-Camcorder-Charger/dp/B00HE14HVG

I should mention, from my experience, that this may power On the old camcorder, but it might just not give up the cartridge or tape it has in it... that sometimes happens. You might end up having to break it open nonetheless... but before that, when it is powered On, try holding down the Eject button firmly for 10+ seconds. Also try powering it Off, waiting at least 1 minute, then powering the camcorder On again while holding down the Eject button for at least 1/2 minute, until that might perhaps persuade a reluctant camcorder to give up its tape.

Good luck with it, and let me know if you would be willing to rate my work and my answer to your question, please.
