I unplugged it from a USB and when I went to open the camera the lens won't come out and it won't turn on

are you going to help me?

I've experienced this before with many coolpix cameras. Sometimes the lens can get stuck if a little piece of sand is caught. Try this please: Put slight pressure on the lens then turn the camera on. You may feel the lens try to come loose and have to slightly maneuver it to come out all the way. Please let me know if that works.

I can't get the camera to turn on at all and the lens did not pop out

Ok. Does it even make noise? New batteries installed?

could I have done damage when I plugged the usb into the computer?

Usually the USB is safe and won't cause damage when plugging into a computer. But sometimes people try to plug the USB into an HDMI port on a computer by mistake which can cause an electrical issue. Has the battery been charged?

If it does not make a noise or show any sign of life, that indicates a power problem. This could be a bad battery or an electrical issue with the camera.

i will try to check the battery. may have to recharge

thank you
That would be my first suggestion. Then if it doesn't hold a charge a replacement battery for this model is not expensive.
