Customer Question

I have basic Play Memories Software and it works great with my three previous Sony Camcorders. I have purchased a new Sony HDR CX440. Must I upgrade my Plan Memories Software to be able to make a DVD of this newly recorded material on my CX440? And will that new update interfere with making DVDs with my previous cameras and the older Plan Memories Software? I am concerned?
JA: What's the exact make and model of the camera? And can you guesstimate how old it is?
Customer: I don't have it with me, but I think it is Sony HDR, 85SR (?), and two before that. My oldest camera worked with the free standing DVD burner, and that still works. But I prefer making DVD on the computer.
JA: How long has this been going on? What troubleshooting have you tried?
Customer: When down loading my CX440 movies onto my computer, they download fine, but when I "make a DVD," the computer tells me that I must "update my Play Memories to be able to make a DVD disc. This is going on for one year.
JA: Anything else you want the Electronics Expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: I want to continue to film in

The trouble won't be with the camera and the software, but I am concerned with your computer's operating system. I want to look into that for you, which operating system are you running on your computer? Which version?
