JA: What happened right before this popped up? What troubleshooting have you tried?
Customer: on the card there is only 1 photo. do you think it the MAC?

If there is only one picture on the camera's memory card now, I suspect either the others have been transferred to the Apple computer you have, or else the other pictures are in another folder on the memory card (doubtfully.)

If there are multiple pictures on the Apple, do you want instructions on eliminating the duplicate ones? or do you want to prevent future duplicate picture downloads from the camera (and if so, what camera download software do you use) ?

Try using the Photos Duplicate Cleaner app, available from the iTunes Store:

And as for preventing it in future... that depends upon what program window opens when you connect your Canon EOS camera to download pictures. Give me that program windows title (the text at the top of the window that opens) and I will instruct you as to the settings change (if any) that will eliminate duplicate downloading.

'Program window' on the screen of your Apple computer, I mean, not 'Windows' as in PC.
