Can't get Olympus D-550...

Can't get Olympus D-550 camera to turn on. What am I doing wrong! Thanks for your help.

Technician's Assistant: What's the make and model of your tv, and has turning it on been a problem in the past?

Olympus D-550 camera. No.

Technician's Assistant: What happened right before this popped up? What troubleshooting have you tried?

Changed batteries, made sure memory card is in right. Hadn't used in awhile, but it was not dropped or anything like that.

Technician's Assistant: Anything else you want the Camera Expert to know before I connect you?

Hi,

First, remove the memory card. A memory card issue can cause the camera to not power up.

Then, there are three more things to try. 1. Hold the sliding lens cover open with your fingers. I've owned 4 cameras of this type and with every one, the on switch in the cover/door goes bad over time and requires pressure to stay on. 2. Clean the battery contacts with alcohol using a q-tip to remove any build up that could hamper contact. 3. You may also need to go to lithium batteries. Cameras of this vintage reach a point where, due to the lowered efficiency of the mechanical parts a little more power is necessary.
