I have a Nikon...

I have a Nikon d5100. When I press the shutter button I come up with error press shutter release again.

Technician's Assistant: What's the make/model of your camera? How old is it?

I purchased my camera about 5 yrs. ago It is a Nikon D5100.

Technician's Assistant: What happened right before this popped up? What troubleshooting have you tried?

I tried setting it back to factory settings. That didn't work. The camera shutter released but lets in very little light. The camera was working fine up until yesterday.

Can you remove the battery please then hold the shutter button down for 60 seconds then release.
Wait 5 minutes, put the battery back in and turn it on.

It worked twice in the house. Went outside and it didn't work. Same message.

It is the internal mainboard that has faulted, this now confirms it I am really sorry about this and you are going to have to return the camera to have this replaced. It will be covered by the warranty if this has not expired, and the replacement will be done at no cost to you.
