I have a Coolpix P100 camera. My last picture card was 2gb. Will a higher gb work?

It is hard to find a 2GB card. Does the GB mean more pictures or something else.

It appears that the P100 will accept up to a 32Gb SD card. In other words, the camera will accept 2,4,8,16 and 32Gb cards.
