What have you put into the (new) camera? a memory card? if so, of what type, used or new, and what 'size' or total capabity is the card in GB?

Expert:  Russell H. replied 13 days ago.

The idea I have is, that camera's memory card slot can only use memory cards below a certain size, and of type SD, SDHC, or SDXC.

Also, the memory card has to be not LOCK-ed, so make sure the LOCK switch is not thrown in the direction of the arrow-head; that locks it against writing, deletion, and formatting.

And perhaps, if all else fails, either the memory card is defective, or the memory card slot in the camera is defective... if the latter, you should pack up the new camera in its original packaging and take it back to the store or vendor for a return-exchange or a return/refund arrangement. The return/exchange expires soon after purchase, but will allow you to turn in defective merchandise and get a camera of the same or equal value in return.
