Customer Question

I have a 50D from several years ago. I recently purchased a "viewfinder adapter" now that I wear glasses. It fits over the view screen, not the eyepiece. How do I keep the view screen "on" when composing a shot?
JA: Who makes your camera?
Customer: Canon
JA: What have you tried so far with your Canon?
Customer: Not much. The screen lights up after a picture is taken, and I can view previous pictures, but when I am preparing to take a picture, the screen is dark.
JA: Anything else you want the camera expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: No

Hi, thank you for contacting JustAnswer.com. My name is***** will do my best to provide the right answer to your question.
If you can take off the 'viewfinder adapter' again without damaging it, try doing so... see if that, temporarily at least, cures the problem.

If it does, the viewfinder adapter may actually be causing the problem, necessitating perhaps a settings change for its presence. If it does not, there is something else wrong.

Tell me, how do you 'prepare to take a picture'? put the camera up to your face to look through the viewfinder? press controls, or adjust settings? let me know the details and try the above test if possible, and let me know by Reply To Expert, and I will advise you as to what is wrong, and what to try.

I questioned CanonUSA.com and got a quick and concise answer on how to use the devise. Your site is worthless.. The advise from Canon was FREE.
