Camera= Nikon-Coolpix=10 m Received for Christmas Unable to transfer pictures to computer to print . I have installed their download- does not work ?? Woody

Hi, thank you for contacting JustAnswer.com. My name is Russell. I will do my best to provide the right answer to your question.

Check first of all, whether the computer type is right for the download. If you have an Apple computer, a Windows download will not work, and vice-versa won't work, likewise.

Then, connect your camera with the cable, to the computer.

Wait 2+ minutes.

Go to

Start

and then go to

Computer (NOTE: if you have Windows 8 or 8.1, there is no START... in that case let me know and I will instruct you appropriately.)

In the Computer window, look for the camera's icon there. It may look like a disk drive icon, but the camera should show up there. If it does, your computer is recognizing the camera as a device, and there is no problem there.

Then try double-clicking on the camera's icon, to see if you can open it like a disk drive, and get the pictures it took off the camera, copied as if off an external disk drive, and onto the hard drive of your own computer e.g. into a folder for those pictures created for them within the Pictures or the My Pictures folder.

If the camera is not recognized by the computer, then either it is 'broken', or the USB cable has a defect and should be swapped out - or even, the USB port on the computer happens to be defective (which can often-enough happen) and you should try at least 2 other USB ports with the camera, and through the above procedure with the Computer window, until you have eliminated a bad USB port is the problem.
