Strange that the camera would just stop without some type of error message? If it appears to be functioning normally otherwise, try copying the photos from the card to your computer, then put the card in the camera and format it and see if you can take more photos that way. Let me know please what happens.

I am at the Capital in Washington for the seating of the NEW Congress and don't have access to a compuer

Then your only option is to purchase another SD card so you can keep the photos you have. That would be the safe thing to do for now.
