Customer Question

I have an Olympus tough guy. I think at least a version 2. I took a movie that I can play from the camera and transfer to a stick, but I can't play from the stick. Do I need a supporting app?
JA: What's the exact make and model of the camera? And can you guesstimate how old it is?
Customer: TG-2. BGW204095. About 3 years old.
JA: What happened right before this popped up? What troubleshooting have you tried?
Customer: Nothing. First time trying to copy onto a stick and play from a stick.
JA: Anything else you want the camera expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: I think I explained as much as is pertinent.

Hello! Thank you for contacting; I am Russell H., an Expert here at, and I will do what I can to answer your question as well as it can be answered.

One thing I need to ask, before I can answer:

- what device do you want to play the stick on, or with?

(and also... what file type did the Olympus Tough produce when it stored the video? but I might be able to guess that, or even determine it, if I look up the specs on the Tough camera....)

A movie or video-clip in QT or MOV or QuickTime format?

They don't play on some devices, some TVs, some PCs, and some versions/configurations of Windows Media Player.

(Checking my own copies of WMP.... MOV files only play back on Windows Media Player version 12 (or higher versions perhaps too) but not on version 11 of WMP or lower.)

Tell me what TV maker and model - or makers and models - and I can tell you whether any of them will play QuickTime movies in MOV file format.
