Customer Question

Hi, I have a Sony CCD-V9 Camcorder. It has a black audio out and a yellow video out spot for cables. I am wanting to copy my tapes to my pc. Because my cable does not have a black pin i do not have audio on my transfers. what can I do to get sound to my movies on my pc? Thank you.
JA: What's the make/model of your camera? How old is it?
Customer: It is a Sony Handycam PRO Video 8 camcorder, CCD-V9
JA: What happened right before this popped up? What troubleshooting have you tried?
Customer: I tried inserting the white pin and also the red pin attached to the cable.
JA: Anything else you want the camera expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: The cable is 3 pins on each side, red, white, yellow. The cable connects to a box that states "a/v inputs" and the box also has a spot for "s-video." The opposite side of the box is the USB cable.

Hello and thank you for your question. I look forward to assisting you today. Are you using the special breakout cable that came with the camera?

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
no, it is a cable that came with the system for downloading the movies from the camera to the computer
Expert:  Dan replied 10 months ago.

Okay. So the problem is you have no connection to match on the computer end?

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
the computer end is fine. it is a usb. I just think there is need for a type of cable hook up on the camcorder side, the audio out.
Expert:  Dan replied 10 months ago.

I think you could easily resolve the problem by using an adapter for your camera rather than the breakout box in your attachment. Check this LINK. This would plug in directly to the audio in port on the back of your computer.

That may plug into the audio in port but I don't know where the video in is supposed to plug in to the computer without the box. am i charged for each question and answer?
Customer: replied 10 months ago.
The male cable can plug into the port in the back of the computer but the video cannot. The video still has to go through the box. Have you looked at my photos? Am I charged for each question and answer?
Expert:  Dan replied 10 months ago.

Your only charge is the deposit you have already paid. The only option I can see for this to work, would be a video tuner device similar to a TV tuner that would need to be connected to your PC. Not real expensive, but an addition that will be needed to allow the camera to input the audio/video signal directly into the computer.

I do have that device, the one that goes straight into the tv, with the hook-up to the camera and the other end that looks like the same thing a cable service satellite tv would come into the house into the TV. If a connector was made to hook to the end of this and into a usb cable that would work well.

Can you send me a photo of that device as well please?
