Customer Question

Hi, I'm having some trouble with a Panasonic AG AC90 camera that I received a little over a year ago. It's been working great every week since then, but has recently putting digital distortions on most of the footage it records. It I also get the error message "error occurred please turn unit off, then turn on again" very frequently when I push the record button, and occasionally "control data error has been detected," after which it might say that the data has been repaired, but it seems to make to no difference. What would be the best way to fix this?
JA: Just to clarify, what's the exact make and model of your machine?
Customer: Panasonic AG-AC90 AVCCAM Handheld Camcorder
JA: How long has this been going on? What troubleshooting have you tried?
Customer: I had a little bit of trouble with it maybe three weeks ago, and after a restart it seemed fine. Now it does this every time, and I can't fix it. I've tried searching around for similar issues, but there isn't a lot posted online about the errors, and nothing about the distortions. I've tried reformatting the cards and using different cards with the same results, so it would seem to be something wrong with the camera itself.
JA: Anything else you want the electronics expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: That about covers it.l

Try the following:

1. Factory reset the camera

2. Install the latest firmware updates

3. If that does not work, the internal memory is suspect and will need to be replaced.

I had this thought myself, but am having trouble finding instructions - do you know how to do a factory reset?

In the menu, on the USER FILE screen, select INIT to initialize the settings.
