I have a Nikon Coolpix L30 which I've been using for about 18 months. Just recently, I've been getting some error messages: "This card cannot be used," even though the card was perfectly fine a minute earlier, and "No data found in file" even though the file has data in it. I've taken over 10,000 photos with this thing (file numbers rolled over a couple of weeks ago). The errors don't show up every time, but there's been a sharp increase lately. Have I worn this camera out?

I haven't tried a different card. It doesn't show the error every time, and it will usually accept it if I remove and reinsert the card. The trouble is, I had to do that several times in a row last night.

If we can keep texting, that would be better. I only paid $80 for the camera, I'd rather not spend $45 on this inquiry.

OK, we will continue texting here. I would recommend to try another memory card that will confirm the camera.

It seems existing memory card is failing or has got internal issue with its firmware/ software and should be formatted in camera to delete all files that will refresh the memory card as well and hopefully it will resolve the problem.

Please take back up of memory card/ copy all pictures on computer before formatting it. Please reply back with the result and if problem resolved then a positive rating to answer would be highly appreciated.

I'm not at home right now, so I don't have access to another memory card at the moment. The pictures are all already saved to my computer, but I'd prefer not to delete all 2300 of them from the card except as a last resort.

I won't be home for at least another eight hours. Will I be able to access this conversation later?
I should mention that I have a card reader, and the card works fine in it.

Sure, please bookmark the page/ save the link to open it up at later time to continue.

As I mentioned, a new card will verify the camera as well. If you get same error then camera has problem with memory card slot contacts and causing the error message.

If new memory card works fine then this/ existing memory card has problem, clean its shiny contacts and format it that will help to resolve the problem. Important thing is we need to confirm the camera with another memory card to figure out what is bad.
