Hi, thank you for contacting JustAnswer.com. My name is Russell. I will do my best to provide the right answer to your question.

Changing from External Memory to Internal, will mean that different videos will be available for the camcorder to play back.

And that of course, freshly recorded ones after the change, will be stored Internally, in internal memory or built-in memory in the camcorder.

What problem were you having with playback? finding videos you wanted to play back?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
The videos are stuck on the Internal Memory.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
It will playback from Camera.
Expert:  Russell H. replied 1 year ago.

How are the videos 'stuck' on the internal memory, please?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I can put on external display with HDMI.
Expert:  Russell H. replied 1 year ago.

But what is the question you are asking about, or what do you want to solve, please?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
The software will NOT allow me to move this videos to a external source.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
It was working with a Passport Drive.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
If I do New videos it works.
Expert:  Russell H. replied 1 year ago.

Videos in internal memory will usually not be manipulated by anything short of being recorded into it, or being deleted from it.

Have you tried first

1: copying a given video, e.g. 'Video A', to external drive or external storage

then

2: deleting Video A off the internal memory

?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I cannot transfer from Internal to external drives.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I have MAJOR videos on DRIVE.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
That I recorded at National Show.
Expert:  Russell H. replied 1 year ago.

Will you give me a few minutes to research this problem a bit more, in case there's a solution I don't know of, please?

Thanks.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I can delete which may or may not fix problem.

Question: are you following the procedure in the manual?

And, if so, what result or error message do you get?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I was following the instructions given.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
It has Internal & External Memory. With External, if it uses all the Memory it goes to Internal. This happened.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I can see the videos & play the videos, but I cannot download or see with computer.
Expert:  Russell H. replied 1 year ago.

I understand the difference between internal and external memory.

But when you try to move or copy out of internal memory, what happens? what error message?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I don't get a error message. It just does not show the data when I go into transfer more.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
It has worked perfect when I kept the memory Under the 64 Megabytes memory.
Expert:  Russell H. replied 1 year ago.

So... how do you know that an internal memory -stored video is there to copy?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
It has a TV monitor which I can call up videos.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I can also show on Big TV through HDMI cable.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
The Copy is what I need. Cannot touch the raw data, except display.

I am sorry to say that I seem not to be making progress on your case, despite my understanding of Sony camcorder memory and storage systems.

With apologies, I have Opted Out, opening the case to other Experts in this category.

Thank you for your patience meanwhile.
