It should recogize the camera when you plug it into a usb port on the computer. But sometimes picasa components conflict with the camera import process. Really the easiest way to do this is to just use the memory card in the computer to load the images.Just plug in your camera to the USB port on your computer , and open your computer's WINDOWS Explorer ( not Internet Explorer). Find the drive letter for your camera and double click on it. On the right of the screen you will see the contents of the memory card. You may have to open a folder or two on the card to reach the photos and videos. Then within Windows Explorer just copy these photos to a folder on your computer that Picasa is set to scan in its Folder Manager and they will show within Picasa.
