My JVC QL-F300 is making a scraping sound & makes my record

Customer Question

My JVC QL-F300 is making a scraping sound & makes my record bounce. What can I do?

Hi, thank you for contacting My name is Russell. I will do my best to provide the right answer to your question. With a problem of that sort, you almost certainly have a badly warped record on the platter, and the cartridge is scraping against the record on the descending side of the 'hill' in the record. Try a flatter record, see if the scuffing or scraping sound goes away. Make sure the platter is still on its bearings, and without a record upon it, has either firmness when you press down on it a little with your fingers, or else a springy but regular resiliency. Let me know what you find out, please. (And if this answers your question fully and ends the case, please rate my answer.) Thanks.
