I have a new eos canon rebel t5 and I am new to using cameras

Customer Question

I have a new eos canon rebel t5 and I am new to using cameras with lenses. The camera came with 2 lenses, efs 18-55mm and a Ef 75-300mm. I bought it because I live taking pictures of nature and landscapes. I wanted a more powerful zoom. I got this camera and there is no zoom at all and I even bought another lens, Ef 50mm f/1.8 and still cannot zoom in on my subject. Please help? Ty Sandy

Hi, thank you for contacting My name is Russell. I will do my best to provide the right answer to your question. You can use either digital zoom (whose results are not very good), or optical zoom (better results) with this camera.Use optical zoom by twisting the lens, provided it is indeed a zoom lens. Since that takes place in the lens assembly, it is independent of the camera, and will work regardless of whether the camera has zoom capability by itself or not. The T5 is complex to use, but with time you'll get used to it.
